Spend a whole evening among people without once saying what you do for a living.
Why this matters
Your job title answers who are you faster than you can. An evening without it shows what is left.
What to do
Go somewhere with people and conversation: dinner, a gathering, anywhere they ask what do you do. Decide in advance: tonight you do not name your job and you do not describe it sideways either, like I am on the technical side. When asked, answer about something else: what has been taking your time lately, what you are reading, where you grew up, what you are learning. If someone keeps digging, you can honestly say you would rather not talk work tonight, and hand the question back. Notice what you talk about when the usual prop is gone, and how often you reach for it. At the end of the evening, remember who never asked about your job at all.
