Open your last thirty purchases and write who each one was for. Then add up what went to you.
Why this matters
A budget shows categories. Names show whose life it actually is.
What to do
Open your statement and take the last thirty transactions in a row, without picking. Next to each one write one name: who it actually went to — you, the kids, the house, work, someone's expectation. Split shared purchases by common sense, not evenly. Add up the totals for each name. Look at the line with your own name on it, and at where it ranks.
