Why this matters
A language isn't learned in courses, it's learned in small piles of words that come back.
What to do
Pick a language you actually need for something, and one day's topic: food, travel, work. Write ten words in a column: word, translation, a short phrase using it. Say each one out loud five times, the ear and the mouth remember better than the eye. Ten minutes later cover the translations and test yourself, mark the ones you missed. Test yourself again in the evening, it's the second repetition that decides. Ten words a day is three thousand a year.
