Write the résumé of the person you'd be if you had turned the other way back then.
Why this matters
Everyone has a fork where they turned. The other road did not vanish, nobody just walked it.
What to do
Recall one concrete fork: the year, the city, the choice that felt small at the time. Take a sheet and write an ordinary résumé for the person who turned the other way: years, jobs, what they learned, what they got done. Write it plainly, without romance — that life has bad years and jobs they put up with too. Bring it up to today and add the last line: what they are doing now. Read it and underline one or two things on that list you could start this year without upending your life. Leave the rest on the paper, where it belongs.
