Why this matters
A trip abroad easily turns into a permanent plan for next year. A ticket bought before any plans turns it the other way round.
What to do
Take the nearest neighbouring country rather than the one you dream about: the goal is to go, not to go perfectly. Today, check your passport and its expiry date, then look up a bus, a train or a cheap flight on specific dates. Buy the tickets before you build any itinerary — otherwise the itinerary will replace the trip. Pack light, leave one day completely unplanned, and learn three phrases in the local language in advance. Once there, do one ordinary thing the way locals do: buy food in a normal shop, take a city bus, sit in a café with no polish. When you are back, write down one thing from there that you want to keep in your own life.
