What to do
Today, wait for the first request that gets an inner no, and turn it down. Say exactly this much: no, I can not. No busy, no another time, no sick child — no props, not even true ones. There will be a pause and probably a why. You can answer it just does not work for me and go quiet again. Notice how strongly you are pulled to explain, and hold it this once. If it matters to them, they will come back with another offer — decide again then.
