In an expensive shop, don't say "just looking". Say what you're after and let them serve you.
Why this matters
Just looking is the sentence we use to announce in advance that we do not deserve attention.
What to do
Walk into a shop where you usually feel out of place and wait for an assistant. When they ask if you need help, say: yes, please help me. Say what you are looking for and what for, without apologising and without explaining your budget. Let yourself be served: let them bring things, show them, talk you through. Try it on or hold it, ask two questions. You are allowed to leave without buying — say thank you and walk out calmly.
