I Was Wrong, in Writing
medium connection 30 min +40 XP
Write to someone that in that old argument you were the one who was wrong. With no but.
Why this matters
An argument nobody ever conceded goes on in your head for years and quietly sets the tone of every later conversation with that person.
What to do
Recall an argument where you now see that you were the one who was wrong: with a parent, a colleague, a friend, an ex. Write a short message, three or four sentences. First: name the argument so they know what you mean. Second: say plainly that you were wrong. Third: say in what exactly. That is all. Do not use the word but even once, do not explain what drove you back then, do not ask for a reply. Reread it, delete every justification, and send.
Afterwards
The relief comes almost immediately and mostly to you — the admission closes the argument inside, regardless of the answer. The reply may be dry or never arrive; that does not undo what you did. If after three attempts the but will still not leave your text, send only the first two sentences — that is enough.
