Why this matters
People close to each other argue about money far more often than they talk about it.
What to do
Pick someone you normally stay silent with about money. Ask straight out: what is the largest sum you have spent on yourself without justifying it to anyone. Do not probe and do not judge the answer out loud. When they finish, name yours — the honest one, not the comfortable one. Then ask each other which was harder: spending it or telling someone about it afterwards.
