Why this matters
Asking for help is scarier than giving it. And almost everyone enjoys being asked.
What to do
Think of a real question you genuinely want answered: which bread here is better, what to see in this neighbourhood, which tool to buy, whether this book is worth the money. Find someone who obviously knows — a shop assistant, a reader at the same shelf, the person next to you in the queue — and ask straight out, no long preamble. Listen to the end, even if you got the answer in the first sentence. Tell them which part of their advice you will actually use. Do not turn it into an exercise: the question has to be real.
