People rarely ask strangers about happiness directly — the topic feels too personal for a chance conversation. But that's exactly why a stranger's short, honest answer often says more than a long social media post.

Find a place where people aren't rushing: a park, a waterfront, a queue. Approach three different strangers and ask the same thing: "Can I ask a personal question — what does happiness mean to you?" Ask permission to record the answer, or jot it down right after. If someone says no, thank them and move to the next — that's fine.
