A nod instead of a question saves a minute and costs a lot more later.
What to do
Today catch the moment when you nod on autopilot while nothing has actually clicked: a meeting, a doctor, a contract, instructions. Stop and say out loud: I did not understand, explain that again. Just like that, without cover such as I am probably being slow or I am a bit tired today. If it is still unclear after the second try, say so and ask for a third, in different words. Watch the reaction: usually nobody laughs, and half the room quietly exhales because they did not get it either. Do it at least twice today, enough to learn that the price was lower than you thought.
