What to do
Walk through the house and gather what is being saved: the perfume, the good plates, the linen, the wine, the expensive tea, the candles. Lay it all on the table and see how old some of it is. Pick at least three things and use them tonight, on an ordinary evening: set dinner on those plates, open the wine, wear the thing. Do not invent an occasion and do not invite guests. At the end of the evening decide what else goes into use this week.
