Why this matters
On stage you cannot edit anything before it goes out. That is exactly why it shows so fast where you hold yourself back.
What to do
Find an improv studio or an amateur theatre in your town — most of them run open classes for beginners. Write or call and book a trial class within the next month, without asking yourself whether you are ready. Come in clothes you can move in, and during the warm-up do not pick the back row. In the first class you have one job: say yes to whatever your partner offers and stop hunting for a clever line. Afterwards walk for ten minutes without your phone to catch what is left in your body. Go at least three times — one class tells you nothing.
