Why this matters
Blood cannot be manufactured — it reaches a hospital only through a donor. One donation is about 450 ml: the draw itself takes roughly ten minutes, the whole visit under an hour.
What to do
Find your nearest blood centre and book in advance — walk-ins are usually not accepted. In Sweden that's geblod.nu, where the eligibility questionnaire is too. Sleep well the night before, eat properly on the day and drink more water than usual. Afterwards sit for fifteen minutes and don't plan heavy exertion for that day. ⚠️ You'll be turned away if you feel unwell, have fresh tattoos, certain recent travel or medications — fill in the questionnaire honestly, it protects the person who receives the blood. If you can't donate for medical reasons, registering as a bone marrow donor counts instead.
