Why this matters
What cost you several years fits into an hour of conversation for a beginner. Handing it over is cheaper than it looks.
What to do
Find one beginner in your field: a student, an intern, someone in a professional chat, an acquaintance who recently started. Write first and offer something concrete: an hour of talk, a review of their work, answers to their questions. Before you meet, ask them to send what they already have plus the one question that bothers them most. In the conversation listen first and talk second — and do not retell your biography, answer their problem. Give two or three things they can do this week, and say what not to do and why. At the end, ask if you can check in again in a month: that is what turns advice into mentoring.
