Blind portrait
medium micro quest 30 min +65 XP
Draw portrait without looking at paper
Why this matters
A blind contour takes control away: the hand follows the eye instead of your idea of how a face should look.
What to do
Sit someone in front of you or set up a mirror, take a sheet and a pencil. Find the point you will start from — usually the edge of an eyebrow — and draw one line without lifting the pencil and without looking at the paper at all. Your eyes travel slowly along the contour of the face, and your hand repeats that movement at the same speed. Do not peek and do not correct, even when you can feel the line has wandered off. Make three or four of these; they will all differ, and keep the one where the line is most alive.
Afterwards
What came out recognisable even though the drawing came out crooked?
