Bake something and leave it at a neighbor's door
Why this matters
A gift with no name on it is the one you are guaranteed no thanks for. That is the whole point.
What to do
Bake something simple and sturdy — a loaf cake, buns, cookies: it has to survive the trip to a neighbour's door. While it bakes, decide who gets it: best is someone whose face you know but not their name. Wrap it in paper or a box, not a plastic bag, and label it briefly — for the neighbours, baked today — with no name of yours. Do write the ingredients, or at least contains nuts: people are careful with food from strangers, and rightly so. Leave it at the door, ring the bell and walk away without waiting. At home, tell nobody about it until the day is over.
